01

Animate the main motion first: on a layer, create keyframes that carry the object from one place to another. Inertia starts from what you drew; it does not invent motion where there is none.

02

Select the object with V and open Animation → Inertia and sway…. The panel opens beside the canvas. Click Use selection to lock in the objects that will react.

03

Choose the Mode. Follow makes the object arrive late and overshoot before settling. Pendulum swings from acceleration, like an earring or a lock of hair held at one point. Stretch with speed deforms the object along the motion while keeping its area constant.

04

Set Speed (the higher it is, the faster the object catches its target) and Overshoot (how far the first peak passes the target; zero settles without swing). In Follow, Driven by chooses whether the object follows its own motion or another object’s. In Pendulum, a Rest direction of 90° hangs the object straight down.

05

Set the range with From frame and To frame. Check Close the loop when the animation repeats, so there is no jump at the end.

06

Click Calculate. The preview plays inside the panel, next to a chart that compares your drawn motion with the physical response. Use Play and the frame control to check it; nothing changes in the project until you apply.

07

Click Apply to write the result to the layer. It lands as a single step: Ctrl+Z restores the motion you drew.
